​​​​Mohammad Ghazal

 
 
Our alumnus of the month for this issue is the current Editor-in-Chief of The Jordan Times, an independent English-language daily published by the Jordan Press Foundation since 1975.

 

Mohammad Ghazal earned a BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Jordan (UJ) in 2005, and a Master's degree in Media and Public Relations from Leicester University, UK, in 2019.
 
Ghazal began his career as a freelance translator and copywriter, and has worked with several local and regional NGOs and websites, including the King Abdullah II Fund for Development, as well as the Jordan Times. He also worked as an interpreter at United Nations, Geneva, Switzerland for a small period of time.
 
Ghazal later worked with the Saudi Arabia TV, where he presented and prepared several programs (among which “Elite Conference” and “Elite Conference 2”) for Saudi Arabia TV Channel 2.
 
In addition to being a freelance translator, copywriter, and Social media advertiser, Ghazal has been also working as a fixer with several international teams of journalists from the US, UK, Canada, Germany, The Netherlands, Japan.
 
He attended intensive courses in social media, digital marketing and search engine optimization, and completed several advanced training courses in search engine optimisation, search engine marketing, social media advertising and content marketing.
 
Ghazal is the recipient of many national and international awards and honors, including the international media award “Kazakhstan through the Eyes of Foreign Media”, which was ranked in 2016 in first place in Middle East and Africa.
 
He is the winner of the first place in best investigative report in English, 2016, for the King Hussein Cancer Foundation’s award, and the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Contest, Jordan, 2006, as his article ranked first in Jordan and fourth internationally. He also won the Pan Arab Intellectual Property Rights Media Awards and his article ranked second in the Arab world.
