UJ among the Top in the Arab World

The University of Jordan (UJ) was ranked by the QS Institution among the top ten universities in the Arab region.

According to the QS Arab Region University Rankings' 2019 edition, UJ ranked ninth in the Arab World and first locally, followed by the Jordan University of Science and Technology, ranking fourteenth on the list.

The Accreditation and Quality Assurance Center at the University stated that UJ attained exceptional results in most of the classification criteria. The University ranked fourth in terms of reputation of graduates, eighth in terms of academic reputation, and ninth in the percentage of PhD holders.

It is worth noting that 250 Arab universities were evaluated in this classification and results of the best 120 universities were published.
Fourteen Jordanian universities were included in this list, of which three are, in addition to Jordan, in the top 50 (Jordan University of Science and Technology 14, Yarmouk University 33 and Hashemite University 38).

Not only does the ranking allow users to compare universities’ performance, it is important due to the fact that a growing number of students who go abroad prefer to stay within their home-based regions.

UNESCO statistics showed that 26% of Arab students studying abroad in 2012 did so within the Middle East.

Jordan has been always – and is becoming increasingly - a favorable higher education destination for students from all over the Arab world whether for its safety, quality education, or for the rich and diverse cultural life it offers.
Furthermore, the 2017 Gallup Law and Order report, has rated Jordan as the 9th safest country globally and the 2nd in the Arab world.

According to Jordan's Higher Education Ministry, the number of international students enrolled in Jordanian universities for the first semester of the 2017-2018 academic year has increased by a 115 per cent as compared to the same period last year.

Also, UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) data revealed that the total number of mobile students hosted in Jordan is 39,577.

Currently 35,951 students from Arab states are studying in Jordan's public and private universities, according to Ministry of Higher Education statistics.

At UJ, there are 3883 Arab students from Palestine, Syria, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria.
