I am a Master of Arts candidate from Miami University of Ohio studying history, and I am enrolled in the summer term Arabic program at the University of Jordan’s Language Center. The Language Center has provided me with a great opportunity to develop my Arabic skills and a new understanding of Jordanian culture, in a way that would have been impossible to do at my own university. Additionally, the Language Center’s language partners program has helped me apply what we are learning in class in conversation and engage with other university students. In my first month here, the students, faculty, and staff have been incredibly welcoming, helpful, and encouraging in my efforts to learn and speak Arabic. I am looking forward to the rest of my short time in Jordan and at the university, and excited to use what I have learned when I return to my home university.
