UJ Marks International Women's Day

The University of Jordan's (UJ) School of Engineering, Center for Women's Studies, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center celebrated on the 8th of March the International Women's Day under the theme "Press for Progress".

Patronized by UJ Vice President for Scientific Schools Prof. Zaid Baqain, the event was organized in cooperation with USAID-funded project SEED (Sustainable Environment and Economic Development).

In his welcoming address, Baqain congratulated women on their day, saying that almost two thirds for students and one third of faculty members at UJ are females.

The event, which took place at the School of Engineering, brought the voices of a number of local women to UJ to share their journey to success with an audience of students and faculty.

The event also included a variety of activities, including the planting of trees provided by SEED in the School ground, and a sporting event in which students demonstrated their athletic skills and talents.

SEED is a USAID-funded project implemented by the US Forest Service and in partnership with the Hashemite Fund for the Development of the Jordan Badia and the Northern Badia Women's Cooperative.
