Graduation Ceremony Held for Latin Language Course Students at UJ.

 
Under the patronage of the Minister of Education, Professor Azmi Mahafzah, The University of Jordan celebrated its first graduates from the first Latin summer course offered at UJ on Tuesday August 7, 2018.

 Students from various faculties and backgrounds offered short extracts and songs in Latin in the presence of Acting President, Emad Salah and The President of the Arabic Language Academy of Jordan, Professor Khalid Al-Karaki. The ceremony also presented a short video of the five week experience that the students had while taking the course. The course was offered in cooperation with the Italian Institute for Classical Study in Rome and its purpose was to revive Classical study in Jordanian Universities and to help students acquire the skills necessary to practice Latin.

Professor Bulkes Al-Karaki, chair of the preparatory committee of the course, expressed her gratitude to the University’s administration for its support and help during the preparation of the course. She also expressed her pride in the students who enrolled in the course for their dedication and interest in a classical language such as Latin. Dr. Hala Horani, a committee member of the Preparatory Committee, stated in her speech that UJ remains committed to achieving its goals and faithful to its aim at graduating exceptional students on all levels.
During the closing session, Dr. Mahafzah and Dr. Salah presented the graduating students graduation certificates.
