AMMAN — Jordan University Hospital on Tuesday received four children from the Gaza Strip suffering from heart diseases, as part of humanitarian efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah to alleviate the suffering of Gaza residents.
The children arrived as part of the 19th batch of sick children from Gaza under the Jordanian Medical Corridor initiative, launched following Royal directives in support of the Palestinian people in Gaza, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army evacuated the latest batch on Monday, including 20 patients and 46 companions, who were subsequently distributed among Jordanian hospitals to continue receiving specialised medical care.
A specialised medical team at Jordan University Hospital, supervised by paediatric cardiology consultants Iyad Amouri and Laila Tutunjy, has begun comprehensive examinations and assessments of each case to determine the need for open-heart surgery or interventional catheterisation, depending on medical requirements.
The treatment is being supported by the Gift of Life international – Jordan, along with the Chain of Hope and Children Not Numbers organisations.
Hospital Director-General Nader Bsool said that the step reflects the implementation of Royal directives to provide healthcare for children from Gaza.
He noted that the hospital is mobilising its full capabilities, medical staff and expertise to ensure safe and comprehensive treatment in line with the highest medical standards.
Bsool added that Jordan continues to play a pivotal humanitarian role in treating children and the wounded from Gaza, reiterating that the hospital will continue to monitor the cases and provide the necessary medical support until full recovery.
