On Tuesday and Wednesday, November
23rd and 24th respectively, the University of Jordan (UJ)
hosted the 6th International Conference on Electronic Publishing (ICEPUB) under
the title: "Digital Transformation and the Changing Culture of
Research" which was inaugurated by UJ President, Professor Nathir
Obeidat.
The Conference, which is organized
annually at the University by the Library Unit, seeks to promote academic and
scientific E-publishing, and raise the level of scientific research in the
context of creating innovative library resources using the modern technologies
to reach excellence in teaching at the Higher Education Institutions.
It is intended, among others, to
provide an opportunity for researchers, professionals, developers, and
publishers to exchange knowledge and expertise in the field of electronic
publishing and its impact on institutions, education, and academic research
process as a whole.
The Conference featured speakers
from the academic and research fields, library and information science experts,
digital publishers, media and academic publishing professionals, including
UNESCO, Elsevier, Emerald , Springer Nature, Naseej, ResearchGate, Al Ghad
Newspaper, Sultan Qaboos University, University of Sheffield, University of
Veracruz (Mexico), Association of Arab Universities.
450 participants from Jordan and
abroad including Germany, UK, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia took part in the
conference, attending sessions broadcasted via Zoom.
Some of the conference themes
included: Open access and the changing culture of research, Library and digital
trends, Library resiliency & crisis, Learning and the changing role of
library.
