As part of its observance of
the centennial of the foundation of the Jordanian state, the University of
Jordan (UJ) organized a 3-day conference, titled: “Jordanian Society in a Hundred
Years", during the period from 18-21, October 2021.
The
conference sought to summarize the Kingdom’s achievements during the
past 100 years, presented by academics, Islamic scholars, sociologists,
historians, politicians, and those who have experienced state since the
beginning of its establishment or shortly thereafter.
A total of 100 participants from Jordan and abroad presented addresses on the
development of the Jordanian society, its future aspirations and current
challenges.
Moreover, there were presentations of research papers and non-research articles
on various aspects of Jordanian society.
The research and non-research
papers were presented over twenty sessions and tackled also achievements made
during the last 100 years, challenges that still exist, and lessons learned
from past and present experiences.
Furthermore, on the sidelines of
the conference, a number of round tables were held in several schools and
centers on various issues, including women, mental health, language and
communication.
