UJ Professor Elected General Executive Board Member at World Physiotherapy

University of Jordan's Professor of Neurological Rehabilitation, Alia Alghwiri, has been recently elected General Executive Board Member of the organization World Physiotherapy. World Physiotherapy is a non-profit organization that acts as a representative for more than 685,000 physiotherapists worldwide.

 

Alghwiri was voted by the World Physiotherapy organization's members for a two-year term as of January 2022 and finished on 31 December 2023.

 

World Physiotherapy was founded in 1951 by 11 national physiotherapy associations as World Confederation for Physical Therapy; and now represents more than 685,000 physiotherapists worldwide through its 125 member organizations.

 

Alia is a professor at the department of physiotherapy and the Vice Dean of the School of Rehabilitation Sciences. Alghwiri has been teaching for 11 years now and is former president of the Jordanian Physiotherapy Society and the current general secretary of the Jordanian Athletic Therapy Association.

 

Alghwiri has published around 40 articles and book chapters in the areas of vestibular disorders, multiple sclerosis, stroke, diabetes mellitus, ICF, and virtual reality. Alia has also been involved in two Erasmus plus projects, named Edu4ALL and Clinical Rehabilitation Sciences (CRS) projects.
