UJ Academic Participates in the Selection Committee of King Faisal International Prize

Professor of Literary Criticism at the University of Jordan (UJ), Jihad Al-Majali, has participated as a member of the selection committees of the 44th session of King Faisal International Prize.

 

Al-Majali was in the selection committee of the Arabic Language & Literature “Arabic literature Studies English” category.

 

The selection committees of the prize’s 4 categories (Islamic Studies, Arabic Language & Literature, Medicine, and Science) conducted their meetings at the Prize’s headquarters in Riyadh from 3rd of January until the 5th, 2022.

 

According to the Prize's website, the prize selection committees included experts, scientists, and public figures from 26 different countries, who examined the nominated works to select the laureates in an objective and transparent manner, in accordance with the rules and regulations developed by the General Secretariat of the Prize.

 

The General Secretariat of the Award, stated in a letter of appreciation addressed to Al-Majali, his valuable participation in the activities of this committee, and his distinguished academic knowledge and opinion, which had a clear impact on its outputs, and also emphasized his role in accomplishing the mission entrusted to the committee.

 

Winners of the Prize include former President of the United Republic of Tanzania Ali Hassan Mwinyi and Professor Hassan Mahmoud Al-Shafei, and Georgetown University Professor Suzanne Stetkevych and Columbia University Professor Mohsen Al-Moussawi​
