The University of Jordan (UJ) continues to strengthen its global academic partnerships through high-level meetings, agreements, and exchange visits with leading universities across the globe. Here's a look at the latest international collaborations during the first quarter of 2025.
UJ and Japanese Embassy Explore Collaboration
On March 18, UJ President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, met with the Japanese Ambassador to Jordan, H.E. Asari Hideki, to explore broader academic cooperation, especially in artificial intelligence and economics. Discussions also covered doctoral scholarships, faculty exchanges, and support for Japanese language education at UJ's School of Foreign Languages. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cultural and academic ties built over seven decades of Jordan-Japan relations.

UJ and University of Illinois Sign MoU for Joint Research
A new Memorandum of Understanding was signed, on February 25, between UJ and the University of Illinois to foster academic and research cooperation. The agreement includes faculty and student exchange, joint research projects, and industrial partnerships. The virtual signing was attended by senior officials from both institutions, reinforcing a shared vision of sustainable development and academic innovation.

Lund University Delegation Visits UJ
A Swedish delegation from Lund University, led by Prof. David Gisselsson-Nord, explored new opportunities for collaboration in medicine, nursing, and rehabilitation sciences on January 29.
UJ highlighted its modernization efforts and extensive alumni network, while Lund University showcased its standing among the top 100 global universities. The visit included tours and faculty discussions aimed at deepening joint research and academic exchange.

Georgetown University Students Experience Interfaith Dialogue at UJ
A student group from Georgetown University visited UJ, on March 4, to learn about Jordan's model of interfaith coexistence. The delegation engaged with UJ students and faculty, attended sessions on the Amman Message, and participated in open discussions at the School of Political Sciences. The visit reinforced the value of academic diplomacy and intercultural understanding.
