The University of Jordan (UJ) students continue to demonstrate exceptional excellence across academic, research, innovation, and athletic arenas at the regional and international levels. Their achievements reflect UJ’s strong educational environment and its commitment to nurturing talent, creativity, and leadership, while proudly representing Jordan on prominent global platforms.
Al Hussein bin Abdullah II Award for Voluntary Service
A notable national milestone was winning first place in the Best Volunteer Work – Team category at the third edition of the Al Hussein bin Abdullah II Award for Voluntary Service, through its UJ Teletherapy Group led by Prof. Yaser Natour, Head of the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences at the School of Rehabilitation Sciences. The award recognized the group’s impactful efforts in providing remote therapeutic services for individuals with speech, language, auditory, and communication disorders.
The achievement was announced during a ceremony held the patronage of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II on December 10, and attended by officials and representatives from volunteer and community organizations. UJ’s recognition positioned the University as a leading contributor to national volunteer and community initiatives.
Teletherapy Group comprises master’s and bachelor’s students from the School of Rehabilitation Sciences, working under professional supervision and in collaboration with specialists and volunteer therapists. Since its establishment in 2020, the initiative has delivered more than 800 free evaluation and therapy sessions, supporting individuals unable to access in-person care, particularly those recovering from strokes and brain injuries.
First Place in Arab Toxicology Competition
A student team secured first place in the Arab Toxicology Competition, held during the Sixth International Conference on Pharmacology and Toxicology (KSAPT 2025), which took place from October 27 to 29, 2025, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The winning team included Ahmad Luay Aburrub (School of Medicine), Nada Yousef Radi (School of Pharmacy), and Yazan Mousa Abu Shanab (School of Nursing), under the supervision of Dr. Yazan Al-Rashdan from the School of Pharmacy.
Launched in 2021 and now involving 50 universities across the Arab world, the competition promotes scientific collaboration, multidisciplinary teamwork, and evidence-based decision-making through simulations, case studies, and expert-led workshops.
Third Place at Arab Innovation and Creativity Forum
Rahma Al-Hroub, a student from the School of Educational Sciences, won third place in the Humanities Research category at the 26th Arab Students’ Innovation and Creativity Forum. The event was hosted by the University of Nizwa in Oman under the theme “Opportunities and Challenges Facing Educational Institutions amid Technological Developments” and was held from November 2 to 3, 2025.
Her research, titled “The Predictive Power of Students’ Reliance on an Intelligent Psychological Robot in Assessing Self-Esteem and Digital Identity among Jordanian University Students,” supervised by Ghada Qaqish, was recognized for its innovative integration of artificial intelligence in psychological and educational research.
Gold at Ibrahim Moustafa International Wrestling Tournament
Student Suhaib Al Marafi, from the School of Sports Sciences and a member of the Jordan Wrestling Federation representing the national team, secured the gold medal at the Ibrahim Moustafa International Wrestling Tournament, held in Alexandria, Egypt, from October 8 to 10.
The championship, officially recognized by United World Wrestling (UWW), featured competitors from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, Russia, Afghanistan, Turkistan, Kazakhstan, Jordan, and Egypt. Competing in the 61 kg freestyle category, Al Marafi achieved three decisive victories to claim the title with remarkable skill and focus. The 61 kg division is among UWW’s official competitive weight classes featured in global events.
This triumph marks Al Marafi’s second consecutive gold medal at the Ibrahim Moustafa Championship, reflecting his steady rise and underscoring Jordan’s growing presence on the international wrestling stage. His victory stands as a proud achievement for both UJ and the Jordan Wrestling Federation.
Gold Medal at the 15th Bromine Amman International Marathon
Another notable achievement was recorded by Mohammad Al-Mahdi Musleh, a student in the Department of Social Work, who won first place and claimed the gold medal in the 10,000-meter race (Kingdom Championship) at the 15th Bromine Amman International Marathon.
Held under the patronage of HRH Prince Firas bin Ra’ad, the marathon brought together more than 5,000 participants from Jordan and abroad. Musleh’s outstanding performance earned him the top podium position during an award ceremony attended by senior officials and representatives of the event’s sponsors.
Despite his visual impairment, Musleh has consistently demonstrated exceptional determination and discipline, making his victory an inspiring example of resilience and excellence.
Top Award for AI App Empowering the Visually Impaired
Whereas Bara’ah Hatem Hussein Al-Barraj, a student at the School of Physical Education, won a place among the top three innovations at the Sabelat El Hassan 2025 programme, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal, for her project Sableh 2025.
The winning application is fully voice-activated, enabling hands-free use, and utilizes artificial intelligence to recognize surroundings, identify people and objects, read text aloud, and provide real-time audio descriptions. It also includes GPS-based navigation and a voice-activated emergency alert system that shares the user’s location with trusted contacts and directly connects with ambulance and police services.
Following her success, Al-Barraj partnered with JAIP to develop the project into a market-ready product under the commercial name VISION.MATE.
Gold and Silver at Dubai 2025 Asian Youth Para Games
Mohammad Al-Mahdi Mosleh, a student in the Department of Social Work at the School of Arts, achieved an outstanding international milestone by winning gold in the 800-meter race and silver in the 1500-meter race at the Asian Youth Para Games 2025.
The Games were held in Dubai from December 7 to 14, 2025, marking Mosleh’s first official international participation. During the event, he also received his first official para-athletics classification (B1), representing a significant step in his competitive career.
The championship brought together more than 1,500 young para-athletes from over 35 Asian countries, creating a highly competitive environment across multiple sports disciplines.
