UJ Represented Globally through Numerous Conferences

The University of Jordan (UJ) has actively represented Jordan on international and regional stages, participating in prestigious conferences that address innovation, digital transformation, and cybersecurity, demonstrating its commitment to advancing knowledge, fostering international collaboration, and contributing to the development of technology and society.

C8 Cybersecurity Conference

Under the patronage of HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Cybersecurity Advancements, Innovations, and Technology Conference and Exhibition C8 2025 opened at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre at the Dead Sea, drawing more than 5,000 participants and cybersecurity leaders from over 40 countries. The event was organized by the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), the Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB), and SOFEX.

UJ President Prof. Nathir Obeidat took part in a panel titled “Enhanced Educational Outcomes: The Key to Redesigning the Cybersecurity Workforce”, moderated by Dr. Ibrahim Abu Al Haol of Dell Technologies. Obeidat emphasized aligning academic programs with industry needs, noting UJ’s recent upgrades to the King Abdullah II School of Information Technology, the establishment of a new cybersecurity laboratory, and plans to introduce a master’s program in quantum computing.

The conference featured high-level sessions, including Changing Landscape, Unchanging Mission Fireside Chat, a structured networking forum, an intelligence-driven cybersecurity briefing by Recorded Future, and the regional panel The Arab Cybersecurity Strategy: Core Pillars and Regional Application. The program also included discussions on cyber warfare, data sovereignty, and a national cyber drill to test response readiness. The opening ceremony was attended by HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, HRH Prince Mired bin Raad, and senior civil and military officials, reflecting the growing significance of the C8 platform regionally and internationally.

Ecosystems 2030 Summit in Spain: “Shaping the Future of Innovation, AI, And Society”.

UJ was represented in the Ecosystems 2030 (ES2030) Summit, held on 3–4 October in A Coruña, Spain. The global platform brings together Fortune 500 executives, policymakers, pioneering entrepreneurs, academics, and cultural figures to discuss the future of technology, society, and innovation, with Artificial Intelligence at the centre of this year’s programme.

The UJ delegation was led by President Prof. Nathir Obeidat, accompanied by Vice President for Scientific Schools Prof. Ashraf Abu Karaky, Vice President for Administrative, Financial Affairs and Digital Transformation Prof. Ziad Hawamdeh, Dean of the School of Engineering Prof. Menwer Attarakih, and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Prof. Moudar Zgoul.

The two-day ES2030 Summit featured high-level panels and interactive masterclasses on generative and agentic AI, AI leadership, MedTech, neurotechnology, virtual worlds, next-generation finance, robotics, and sustainable systems. The agenda also addressed ethical frameworks for AI governance, digital inclusion, big data analytics, and healthcare applications, reflecting the summit’s ambition to provide a roadmap for societies navigating technological transformation by 2030.

During the summit, UJ honored its alumnus, Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Prof. Omar Hatamleh, with a recognition plaque, acknowledging his remarkable contributions to the advancement of artificial intelligence and innovation.

“Institutional Foresight: Strategies for Adapting to Digital Transformation” Conference

UJ participated in the 14th International Conference on “Institutional and Strategic Foresight: Strategies for Adapting to Digital Transformation,” organized by the Arab Academics and Scientists Union (AASU). The peer-reviewed scientific gathering was held on 2 October 2025 at the Days Inn Hotel in Amman under the patronage of Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Eng. Sami Samirat.

Vice President for Humanities Schools Prof. Nahed Emaish represented UJ, joining academics and policymakers from fourteen Arab countries. During the opening session, Emaish was honored for her participation, which she described as recognition of UJ, its leadership, faculty, staff, and students.

Emaish underlined the role of foresight as a cornerstone of strategic planning and institutional resilience, stressing that the theme resonates with UJ’s digital strategy, which integrates technology into teaching, learning, and student services. She also highlighted opportunities to build new collaborations with partner institutions and benefit from global experiences.

The programme addressed governance, human capital, institutional readiness, and strategic foresight, reinforcing its importance for sustainable institutional growth. The conference aligned with the Royal Vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, who, in his Seventh Discussion Paper, emphasized the importance of knowledge and technology in shaping an integrated society ready for the digital age.
