UJ Organizes Orientation Day for New International Medical Students

The University of Jordan (UJ), through the International Program, Alumni, and Marketing Unit, organized an orientation day for newly admitted international students in the medical schools, welcoming them to the University and introducing them to academic life at UJ.

In remarks delivered on his behalf by Director of the International Program, Alumni, and Marketing Unit Prof. Zaid Obeidat, UJ President Prof. Nathir Obeidat expressed pride in the students’ decision to join the University, describing them as ambassadors of their home countries and a reflection of UJ’s global academic identity. 

The orientation featured presentations by deans and faculty members who outlined academic requirements, student support systems, and the range of services available to international students. Vice Dean of the School of Medicine for Graduate Studies Dr. Nafez M. Abu Tarboush provided an overview of the Doctor of Medicine program and highlighted the School’s achievements and international standing.

Director of the Guidance and Student Support Office at the School of Medicine Dr. Fedaa Thekralla emphasized the importance of mental wellbeing and community support, while Vice Dean for Student Affairs Dr. Fuad Khasawneh reviewed key student services, including healthcare, housing, and extracurricular activities that foster personal development and leadership skills.

Representatives from the Schools of Science, Dentistry, and Pharmacy underscored the importance of inclusivity and collaboration in creating a dynamic learning environment. In addition, officials from the UJ Library, Financial Unit, and IT Center introduced the academic and technical resources available to students throughout their studies.

At the conclusion of the event, students expressed their appreciation for the warm welcome and the comprehensive guidance provided, affirming their pride in joining the University of Jordan’s vibrant and diverse international community.
